Its ironical that even though mango might be the king of fruits, but due to one reason or the other an Apple is the one which comes to mind when you ask anyone the names of fruits …. It can be due to the phones we use or due to the one saying we all know and rightfully believe, which is :

“An Apple a day keeps the Doctor Away”

Apples are consumed in many ways such as raw, juice form, baked as an ingredient in a pie, cooked in sauces, spreads in the form of apple butter. Other ways apples can be consumed is canned or frozen form. Speaking of which – Apple Cider!

But what makes an apple interesting is not only the fact that is a great source of Vitamin C but also that it comes in so many varieties which just make you go bonkers. The other reason for an apple to be highly considered as a remembered fruit is it possesses so many vitamins and minerals.

Composed of almost 20% of the daily intake of dietary fiber, helps keep your gut – good, healthy & happy. While keeping your gut free of all sorts of problems, an apple is the one who keeps your eyes shining well and makes the world a better place to see as its flavonoids apples remove many free radicals from the human eye.

Drying often confused for the fact that apple has turned brown on the outside is actually caused by the enzyme “polyphenol oxidase”, causes browning in sliced or bruised apples, by catalyzing the oxidation of phenolic compounds to o-quinones, a browning factor.

Browning reduces apple taste, color, and food value. Arctic Apples, a non-browning group of apples introduced to the United States market in 2019, have been genetically modified to silence the expression of polyphenol oxidase, thereby delaying a browning effect and improving apple-eating quality.

Apple seed oil is obtained by pressing apple seeds for manufacturing cosmetics.

Apple liquor or Spirits from apple

Calvados – (Normandy)

Marked by rich baked-apple flavor, vanilla and subtle spice, Normandy’s apple brandy, known as Calvados, is an expression of the French countryside

AppleJack – (America)

“Whichever spirit you choose, the classic way to consume applejack is as part of a Jack Rose cocktail (applejack, grenadine, lemon), a drink famously mentioned in Ernest Hemingway’s 1920s novel, The Sun Also Rises.”

Caorunn – (Scotland)

A handful of vodkas, gins and eaux-de-vie employ apples, too. Core Vodka, which is distilled from apples, is perhaps the most subtle of the bunch, with a fleeting touch of fruit and sweetness. Scotland’s Caorunn Gin employs red apple, though juniper and other botanicals lead the nose and palate.

Applesauce.

Use a quarter cup of unsweetened applesauce in place of one egg in most baking recipes. Some sources say to mix it with half a teaspoon of baking powder. If all you have is sweetened applesauce, then simply reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe.

One can always DIY their own AppleSauce.
Cook small chunks of peeled/unpeeled apples with some sugar, butter and add lemon juice to it . Blend it or
keep it chunky and use it as a spread or an ingredient…
